Make those skeletons dance!
Carolyn Leonard Heavener
says writing and researching family history is a fun hobby and is one of the most popular activities in the world.
Problem is, when you start opening Pandora's box of ancestors you don't know what you will find. So if you can't make the skeleton in your closet go away -- you just have to teach it to dance.
Carolyn serves on the board for the Oklahoma Writers Federation and is an officer in DAR (Daughters of American Revolution), associate of Daughters of Holland Dames, member of Daughters of 1812 wars, First Families of the Oklahoma Twin Territories, historical societies in several states, and the prestigious Mayflower Society.
"Who’s Your Daddy? A Guide to Genealogy from Start to Finish," took thirty years to write but only a quick change of title to sell. The book is a result of my many adventures in tiptoeing through tombstones with a camera, a notebook and a pencil. I learned the hard way, so I want to help other people find the easy road to discovering their family's place in history.
Carolyn will discuss her new book which includes information on identifying gravestone icons, appreciating cemetery art, keeping track of your ancestors and descendants, travel to ancestral locations, courthouse research, Internet assistance, organizing your stuff and how to publish.
